7 Myths about silk

Silk is one of the most mysterious fabrics and there are a lot of myths about it. Today, we will dispel 7 popular myths about silk and present the truth🧚🏼‍♀️

1. Silk is cold.
Natural silk has special thermic properties, its temperature adapts to your body heat. Sleeping on silk feels warm in winter and cool in summer.

2. Silk is electrostatic.
100% natural silk collects much less static electricity than any other fabrics.

3. Silk is slippery.
Silk is very smooth indeed, but at the same time not slippery.
Polyester, which is often misrepresented as silk, is slippery, electrostatic and uncomfortable.

4. Silk can reduce wrinkles.
Silk pillowcases prevent morning wrinkles caused by rubbing and stretching the skin during sleep. Also the 18 amino acids contained in silk fibres positively influence the metabolism, hydrating the skin and smoothing out small wrinkles.

5. Silk bedding is not very different from other materials.
Silk bedding is hypoallergenic, dust-free, antibacterial and highly hygienic. It also calms the nerves, prevents insomnia, reduces skin irritation and prevents split hair.

6. Silk is very expensive.
Like for any other kind of material, clothes are expensive because we pay for the brand rather than the fabric. Nowadays, silk is available at a very reasonable price. Price also depends on the manufacturer as well as on the quality (density in momme and texture).

7. Natural silk is not sustainable.
With the proper care (washing at 30 degrees with a gentle detergent), Premium silk (density >19 momme) can be used for 7 to 12 years. Please protect silk from humidity, moths and direct sunlight.
